Dr. Watson was drawn to Ashland Theological Seminary because of her great interest in training students for ministry. In the classroom, she is a constant source of encouragement, giving students the boost they need to really succeed.
In addition to her work as a professor, Dr. Watson is also an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA. Over the years, she has pastored and ministered at churches in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio. She also served as a hospital chaplain in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout her own ministry experiences, she has become a great supporter of women in ministry, knowing that women play a key role in Kingdom work and service.
Dr. Watson has a strong gift of compassion. Though ATS students are the current recipients of that gift, Dr. Watson has been on an incredible journey of compassion for many years. She even worked as a missionary volunteer with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India. At the Charity, Dr. Watson saw Mother Teresa and the other nuns model the simple love of Jesus with an incredible generosity of spirit.
Dr. Watson enjoys traveling, her favorite destinations being Europe and Asia. She is also very fond of music. Dr. Watson and her husband, Duane, have one daughter, Christina.
