Women in Dialogue Presents Emily Hess

Bring a friend or two and join us for coffee, tea, and treats! Emily Hess will be speaking on The Civil War: Nurses, Wives, Soldiers, and Spies.

The Civil War is the most significant event in American history and for good reason. Besides halting the secessionist movement, the American Civil War provided a new birth of freedom to four million enslaved African Americans. In addition to its political and economic significance, the Civil War had a tremendous impact on women overall, generating new roles and aspirations for greater public responsibilities and equal rights.
