We would like to introduce you to The Sojourn Community, Ashland Theological Seminary’s intentional Christian learning community. With The Sojourn Community individualism gives way to communal life, personal goals grow into collective vision, and an education evolves into transformed lives.
Our challenge to you is to place yourself into a community of fellow travelors, strangers like you, who find themselves on a new adventure in a new place. How do you become more than a spectator on this journey? Why did Jesus send his disciples out together? Is Acts 2:42 still relevant to us today? What does the shared Christian life, with conflict, reconciliation, forgiveness and true fellowship really look like? If you’re up to discovering this and more, then The Sojourn Community may be for you.
This communal living reaches beyond your apartment building and into the lives of faculty, staff and other students. You will share this journey with all of Ashland.
Applying for The Sojourn Community is easy. Simply download and complete the application form and return it to the following address:

To provide a safe living environment for our students and their families, all students (and spouses) applying for Seminary housing or at the request of the Office of Enrollment Management will be required to pay Viewpoint Screening for a background check service as a condition precedent to occupancy and/or enrollment. The background check will include the following information: Country Criminal – County of Residence, Residence History, and Nationwide Sexual Offender index.
When you go to the Viewpoint Screening website go to “Select School” and from the map, choose OHIO and find “Ashland Theological Seminary”. There are two packages to choose. Applicants who have lived in 1 or 2 counties in the past seven years should choose $16.00 package. If you have lived in three or more counties over the past seven years, choose the $29 package. Complete the simple application and select “Next” at the bottom of the page. Complete your payment information and submit the report. It is that simple. The Seminary reserves the right to deny occupancy, admission or revoke this contract based upon information received through the background security check.
If you have any questions about The Sojourn Community or the application process, simply give us a call or send us an email and we'll be glad to assist you in any way possible.
