Dr. Hockenhull's hunger to know God and how to better minister to His people was what led her to Ashland Theological Seminary. Through small group gatherings at ATS' Detroit Center and in the D.Min program, she has experienced profound examples of God's love and care for her as an individual. Those experiences have boosted her ability to use her own gifts of encouragement and prayer as she ministers at ATS.
Over the years, Dr. Hockenhull's most significant spiritual growth has occurred as the Lord teaches her to discern his guidance. Pastoral counseling, formational prayer, and spiritual direction have also been transformative.
Dr. Hockenhull has three beautiful daughters, Jessica, Jillian and Joy. In her free time, she loves to be outdoors, particularly if that involves kayaking or hiking near waterfalls, redwoods or a tropical location. She has especially enjoyed trips to Muir Woods, Maui and Negril. Dr. Hockenhull also loves watching professional football (focusing on the Detroit Lions, of course), reading, listening to music, and relaxing with a quick game of Spider Solitaire.
