After being unemployed for a year, Renee believes God led her back “home” to the place she received her graduate degree: Ashland Theological Seminary. Although taking this job meant that she couldn’t use her counseling degree in the traditional sense, the situation just felt right. As a student, and now an employee, the thing that Renee has most appreciated about the ATS community is the compassion and care that are lived out daily among those involved with the seminary.
Starting in her early twenties, with the death of her mother, Renee experienced a season of great loss that has shaped and molded her faith. As a result, her gifts of mercy and healing have only been magnified, as she is drawn to help others hurting from emotional wounds.
After a whirlwind romance, Renee married her wonderful husband Jed in 2009. They have a very enthusiastic and energetic black lab named Ben. Renee and Jed enjoy long road trips around the United States. Their favorite trip thus far was to St. Simons Island in Georgia. They are hoping the next trip will be an exploration of the American West.
Renee’s main hobbies are reading and music. She enjoys singing at weddings, church events, and choirs. She also loves creating in all its forms, whether that involves making a flower arrangement, crocheting a blanket, or baking a cake.
