Dr. Tyler Hudson (Ph.D., The Ohio State University) is Assistant Professor of Counseling and practicing psychotherapist whose work draws on the existential tradition, emphasizing freedom, personal responsibility, and the development of the self. His work explores how individuals navigate questions of meaning, humanness, identity, and agency in an increasingly complex world.
His scholarly interests include existential psychotherapy, men’s issues, and spirituality. Dr. Hudson teaches graduate courses in Counseling Theories, Counseling Men, Lifestyle and Career, Professional Ethics, and Counseling Techniques. Prior to his current role, he served as a lecturer at The Ohio State University, where he also worked in suicide prevention initiatives and ran the Stress Management and Resiliency Training Lab. He also regularly contributes to wellbeing and human flourishing initiatives through the Wellness Institute. Alongside his master’s and doctoral training in counseling, Dr. Hudson holds a Master of Theological Studies, reflecting his longstanding interest in the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of the human condition.
In addition to his academic work, he maintains a private counseling and consulting practice focused on self-leadership, durable human skills, and helping professionals and leaders align performance, well-being, and purpose.
Dr. Hudson lives with his wife and three children in central Ohio. When not teaching, writing, or speaking, he enjoys traveling with his family and spending time outdoors tending their garden, visiting nearby state parks, or exploring the Columbus Museum of Art.
